Are you always agitated about facing interview panels? Here are some tips to help boast your confidence during job interviews.

  • Do a proper research about the position you applied for. Understand your job responsibilities as it will give you a good idea of tasks you will be expected to perform on daily basis.
  • Never act so desperate for the interviewer. Be calm, cool and confident.
  • Do not take over conversations during an interview. Telling the interviewer more than he/ she asked is not professional; only say what you are asked. Keep personal issues to yourself.
  • Use professional language during an interview; avoid using slangs or vulgar languages.
  • When asked if you have a question never say ‘’NO’’ Ask genuine and relevant questions to find out if the organization is the right place for you. Don’t ask a question just for asking questions sake! Prepare your questions ahead of the interview.
  • All your interviewer has is your resume. Study your resume appropriately and get ready to talk on any work experience you have listed on it.
  • Be punctual for your interview. Call the person who scheduled your interview about directions to the office. If time and circumstances permit, it is also a good idea to go check the venue of your interview so you have an understanding of the lay of the land. If something happens and you realize you’re going to be late, call your interviewer and let them know.
  • Plan on what to wear: choose your outfit; make sure it is clean and ironed. Wear your outfit with the appropriate accessories and shoes ideal for an interview.
  • Research about the organization: Have a great knowledge of the organization and its products. You can research for them online or ask questions from people who work for the company.
  • Rehearse responses to likely interview questions. Practice with your mentor or an experienced friend.
  • Go with print out copies of your resume, a notepad and a pen.
  • Always try to politely follow up on the interviewer after the interview for possible updates.
